Welcome to Flooring Butler where we believe we exist to serve you! We are glad you are interested in joining our team, and we invite you to learn more and reach out for an interview!

If you’re wondering, if you were a good fit, I will create a list below of must-haves and nice to haves:

Must:

  • be a “diligent doer”
  • “Whatever it takes” mentality to taking care of the customer and succeeding in your position
  • Coachable
  • Accountable for your actions
  • A reliable vehicle and willingness to drive between appointments in the Kansas City metro area
  • Willingness to make cold calls
  • Willingness to network

Nice to have:

  • flooring experience
  • Construction experience
  • Sales experience
  • A beautiful face (kidding, just making sure you’re still reading)
  • Humor/people skills

We believe if we find the right person, we can train them to be successful on our team. But that person must be coachable, hungry to work, hard, willing to take care of the customer, and do whatever it takes! Perhaps you’re reading this and you know you are not in the place you want to be. You don’t like your job and you don’t like the people you work with and you feel like you have so much more to offer. I have been there myself, and you have to be willing to give up, some comforts and laziness to thrive in this position. Only you can decide to put in the effort required to be successful.

OK, if you have decided that everything above applies to you or that you want it to and you’ll do it whatever it takes to make it happen, you might be asking what a typical day looks like. A typical day as a salesperson for Flooring Butler looks like Waking up early to plan your day. Will schedule phone calls that need to happen, appointments you need to visit, jobs, you need to check in on, etc. In the morning you will typically start jobs and show our installers what needs to be done and what areas need special attention. in the afternoon, you typically have estimates where you will drive anywhere in the Kansas City metro area to serve our customers, figure out what their needs are, help them decide on the flooring that is best for them, measure their home, and work up an estimate, and close the sale. This is not a typical 9 to 5 job, and you will typically have an estimate or work to do once you get home. The trade-off for the time that you will sacrifice it should be monetary compensation and satisfaction of doing whatever it takes to reach your full potential.

Additionally, we have found that success comes by networking, and as such, we will recommend certain networking groups to join, and work with you on creating a list of people for you to reach out to that are in your network and people you would like to have in your network.

If you’re still reading this, I appreciate you taking the time to gather all of the information. I have a project I would like to share with you, as it might be insightful for the sales position.

Project 1: Debbie | Kind old woman

Debbie reached out because she saw on Google. She was looking for somebody to refinish the hardwood floors. She had underneath the carpet in her older home. She wanted to refinish the hardwoods and get rid of the carpet because she thought the carpet was kind of a trip hazard for her. She also liked the look of hardwood floors and Wanted to change the color of the floors in her home.

Since she was older, she was not able to move her furniture, nor did she have family in the area that could move it for her. As a part of the project we planned to move her furniture for her.

Since her whole house was hardwood floor, she had to leave town or stay at a hotel while we completed the work.

As the job began, I went on site to move the furniture. Our crew began the sand and refinished process, and I took photos and videos for Debbie so she could see what was going on in her home. She responded with gratitude for the updates and enjoyed seeing the progress step-by-step.

Prior to the final code of finish being applied, I walked through the project and identified two spots that needed attention before the final coat was put down. Our installer completed the project, and a few days later I moved the furniture back in for Debbie.

When Debbie finally got home, she was so grateful and excited to see the transformation of her home. Before I left, I asked if there was anything else I could do to help and she did have a few things that she needed help with that she couldn’t do by herself. I was happy to serve this older lady and I’m glad I was able to be there for her. I chose the name Flooring Butler , because we really do believe we exist to serve our customer. That may be more than just flooring needs and it is often more rewarding when it is.
